Are you taking care of yourself physically and mentally? Whenever I have breaks from the gym I come back so much stronger because it really is something that helps me not just physically but mentally as well. The gym isn’t always fun and it is a lot of work but today I pushed myself hard and all I kept telling myself in my head was that I was strong and I can do one more and I’m not a quitter and more. This and my getting in the zone with my music pushes me harder and harder everyday. You can do this in more than just in the gym. Give yourself encouragement when you’re being negative and see how much better it makes yourself feel. Happy Friday everyone. Have a wonderful weekend and take some time to enjoy the sunshine! ☀️ *hard 🍑 leg day coming tomorrow 😅

Chest Work! It’s not uncommon to see a lot of men in the gym focusing their attention on the chest muscles. The average woman however, tends to spend their time focused less on the chest, if at all. Working your chest muscles helps to:improve posture, breathing, and lets face it, perk the “chest” up. Lengthening chest fibers allows your rib cage to expand making it easier for you to breathe. I treat pulmonary patients all day long, and this is why we focus on exercises that increase their lung capacity and engage their diaphragm. GUESS WHAT!? • • Today I walked the stage and graduated from university!🎓🎉 It’s a huge milestone in my life, and something I’ve been looking forward to for years. 🤩 BUT...it really got me thinking. 🤔 So many of us focus so hard on the big events or outcomes that we forget to enjoy the process. This can be so relevant in the health and fitness industry, where so many of us have goals to gain a certain amount of muscle or get to a goal weight, and we become so preoccupied and fixated on that goal that we completely forget to live in the present and enjoy the ride. If we’re not taking time to enjoy the process, it can start to feel like a chore.😫 So how do we change our focus from this big-picture moment to the smaller day-to-day steps? One of my favourite ways is to set smaller milestones for myself. 📝 Each morning, I write down the top three things I want to achieve that day that are attainable but still require effort and time and will help me more towards my big outcome. Setting smaller daily challenges for myself keeps it interesting, makes me feel like I’m moving forwards, and lets me appreciate and live in the present moment. I decide to start training to be a monkey 🐒 😜. . But in all seriousness I know I talk about how everyone can do CrossFit, but it’s true. There are modifications for EVERYTHING! Today the movement was toes to bar, and if you couldn’t do that movement hanging knee raises. Well right now, I can’t do either, so jumping knee raises it is. If you can’t tell from my face, these are hard AF for me, but it’s all about the challenge and getting better. . Video of this me doing this on my story ❤️
