    Over the weekend we had a local tournament come through and saw a lot of people trying to play the #leglock game.  Trying.  Failing miserably... if only there were a local instructor who taught a fundamentals class who knew how to correctly finish leg locks in competition... if only... COME TRAIN WITH US.     Hey Hey Hey! Here is a 30 minute, total body, fat-burning circuit to start your week off right! All you need is a kettlebell!

Begin with a 5 minute warm up of your choice. Perform each exercise for 50 seconds, 10 second rest in between moves, 30 second rest after all 5 moves, 4 rounds! .
Full Clean (Deadlift to squat)
*During deadlift, do not lower torso past parallel with ground
.
Halo Squat
*Keep core muscles tightly engaged
.
Mountain Climb to Single Arm Clean
*Modify by stepping the feet forward and back
.
Windmills
*keep eyes on weight! Modify by not going as far down or slightly bend sideways facing leg
.
Squat Clean to Uneven Split Squat
*Do not let back knee bang ground
.
Finish with a 5 minute cool down and stretch.

Kettlebellswing er en øvelse som trener flere store muskelgrupper på en og samme tid. Det finnes to ulike varianter av øvelsen, en russisk og en amerikansk. I den amerikanske varianten skal kula ende opp over hodet før du lar den falle ned igjen, mens i den russiske varianten skyter du kula opp til maks øyehøyde.

Bare husk, kraften skal alltid komme fra hofta! Du skal ikke i hovedsak bruke hverken armer, rygg eller noe annet. Som et resultat av at du skyter hofta frem klarer du å løfte kula opp.

Øvelsen trener alle de store muskelgruppene og kan brukes både i en kondisjons- eller styrkeøkt.

    Ah kettlebells. One of the most underused modalities I see. Whether you are looking to build your glutes, lose excess fat or simply become a better athlete. Incorporating kettlebell training into your repertoire can help you reap some serious benefits!

    The Kettlebell Swing is a great way to practice the “Hip Hinge” movement as well as Muscular Endurance, Aerobic/Anaerobic Capacity. 

Start with feet shoulder width apart. 
Push your hips back while bending from the knees. 
Swing the KB just above the knees. 
Thrust hips forward and swing the KB to chest height. 
Really engage the Glutes and “stomp” your heels into the floor. 
Gravity will pull the KB back down as you perform another hip hinge to start another swing.... Postural Tips 
1: Arms like chains, hands like hooks the power is from the hips ! 
2: Imagine tucking your shoulder blades into your back pocket and pointing your hearts towards the sky. 
3: Always maintain core engagement and consistent breathing. 
You’ll be amazed how much you can swing once you engage an active hip thrust.

    I am here to educate because I see the influx of information that has flooded the fitness industry.  With hundreds of diet options, and workouts from walking, to yoga, to crossfit, it is challenging to decipher what works and what doesn’t.  How do you know where to start in order to make progress?

Most of these modalities of dieting and working out are effective—but for how long?! Is a 900 calorie diet sustainable for the rest of your life?  Are you willing to go through grueling, intense, workout sessions forever?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a nutrition plan that allows for flexibility and great results?  And a training program that doesn’t take up hours out of the day in order to see some progress?

A lot of the fitness industry promotes a ‘no pain no gain’, ‘no days off’, ‘all or nothing’, mentality.  I’m a true believer in doing the least amount possible to elicit the most amount of change.  I used to be someone who spent 3 hours in the gym, carried tupperware with me EVERYWHERE, and wouldn’t allow myself a day off.

Now I workout 3-4 days a week for an hour, eat what I want when I want, and have a flexible yet healthy lifestyle.  It’s time to create health and fitness habits that are sustainable for the next 30 years, not just for the next 30 days.

    Here we go, Monday Movement vol 6. So check it.. After years of training clients, athletes, competitors, I've noticed that the majority of people are anterior dominant when it comes to lower body exercises. Their quads want to take over on everything they do. So between that and everyone wanting better butts, here is the kettlebell swing. This particular exercise technique has gotten lost due to it's popularity, everyone trying to do new cool things with it and just improper coaching. Let me go ahead and throw out my method for this hip and glute strengthening exercise.. - first thing first, don't just drop into a squat and throw your arms forward. Video 1 shows that you need to work on your hip hinge before to set yourself up into the proper position. Hips get pushed back and loaded, back stays flat and shoulders tucked down. - Next, work on some kettlebell deadlifts right quick. Make sure as you come up into the motion, that you are driving and squeezing through the glutes. (Video 2)
- Now we put it together. A couple small swings, back nice and flat and push that butt back. Drop into your deadlift position, hands and kettlebell reaching inbetween the legs. Use just your hips and glutes to drive that weight back up. The upper body should be used to just hold the weight. It is not lifting it! Make those legs works!

    KETTLEBELL CLEANS!
These are another great beginner exercise for anyone wanting to learn kettlebells. It’s also a great workout to add to your Pull days! 
TIMING IS KEY!  
You want the kbell to land right onto your bicep every time you clean it to your chest. Keep your elbow close to your body, and your hand directly under your chin. Don’t swing the kbell too far out or you’ll be smashing it against your wrist every time you bring it to your chest! 
GRIP IS IMPORTANT! 🤜
You don’t need to grip the kettlebell hard in order to do this movement. You’ll notice when i’m doing single kbell cleans, my hand is waving through the handle directly under my chin.     KETTLEBELL CLEANS! These are another great beginner exercise for anyone wanting to learn kettlebells. It’s also a great workout to add to your Pull days! TIMING IS KEY! You want the kbell to land right onto your bicep every time you clean it to your chest. Keep your elbow close to your body, and your hand directly under your chin. Don’t swing the kbell too far out or you’ll be smashing it against your wrist every time you bring it to your chest! GRIP IS IMPORTANT! 🤜 You don’t need to grip the kettlebell hard in order to do this movement. You’ll notice when i’m doing single kbell cleans, my hand is waving through the handle directly under my chin.     If your main gym workout consists of either the treadmill or the bike, or just crawling onto one of those weird looking machines and following the instructions, you may have found yourself looking over at the mass of free weights, TRX equipment, kettlebells and funny resistance bands and thought... .
... “What is all that stuff even for?” .

    Bottom Ups Kettlebell Walk

Holding a kettlebell bottoms-up is simple, but not easy. Rather than holding a kettlebell with the bell hanging below the hand, flip it upside down so the heavy portion sits above the handle and the horn sits on the meat of your palm.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The instability this causes forces you to recruit additional muscle fibers and motor units to control the unstable load. This will take some getting used to when first starting, so use a lighter weight than usual until you build up more strength.

Builds strength in the rotator cuff, which is hugely important for shoulder health.
Strengthens all facets of your grip (fingers, wrists and forearms) which will help improve all exercises that require grip strength.
