Postworkout dinner, porridgebowl with fresh strawberries, half a banana, flaxseed, porridge with almond milk, coconut yogurt, some cashews and organic peanut butter. Today was my third run of the week it feels damn good to be back in my old training schedule. Even if I had to slow down a bit. My body and mind are feeling better when I am running. It's weird how used you get to do sports. The last weeks I didn't have time for nothing and I felt like shit. I thought it was of all the stress but actually it was the lack of not moving enough. I couldn't sleep well, was moody, tired all the time, restless, had a few bad headaches... Now I feel so much better. I’ve had a hankering for chicken nachos #chacoslately🤤 . I used to be the kinda gal who always gave into her cravings because #yolo.I figured “hey, I work hard, might as well play hard too🤫 . That’s when I used to use my feelings as excuses to eat crap food🤦🏼‍♀️No wonder was addicted to food, letting it soothe me instead of dealing with my issues. . These days I do better, because I know better. Does that mean I never “cheat” on my diet? Nope. (I’m literally mowing down on this plate of chacos as I type this)🧀🍗It just means I cheat🤓smart. Here’s what I mean: 1️⃣I explore WHY I want the junkie food.🤔If it’s cause I had a bad day or am feeling a bit depressed, I tell myself I can have the food I’m craving - TOMORROW. This helps pacify my feelings, while allowing myself a little fun with my food. 2️⃣I eat normally before and after my cheat meal. Just because this plate of chachos is loaded in unhealthy calories doesn’t mean I should PUNISH myself for eating them. That’s a bad association with food. And we’re working on creating a better relationship with food, right. So I still eat my 3 meals that day, but only ONE cheat meal (don’t make the mistake I used to and eat cheat meals the entire day🤦🏼‍♀️It’s too slippery of a slope when you do that, plus SUPER unhealthy). 3️⃣I don’t punish myself after a cheat meal with a really hard workout, or thoughts of inadequacy. IT’S JUST FOOD, girlie! Answer me this - does eating this plate of chacos make me a bad holistic nutritionist? A crappy [fur]mom? An untrustworthy friend??? NOOOOOO. It makes me human😁 . Same goes for you. You aren’t a failure, a bad person or other negative thing you think you are when you cheat on your diet. Absolutely nothing has changed about you after eating a cookie🍪bowl of ice cream🍨or plate of nachos. It just means you MADE THE CHOICE to eat some food that you don’t normally eat. THAT’S IT. THAT’S ALL. . I know this way of thinking takes TIME⏰to adopt. But if we don’t start working on thoughts and feelings that are more positive, we’ll stay stuck forever. And I don’t know bout you, but that’s not a way I want to live my life. . What about you - cheat meals - YAY or NAY?
