Cable Flys aka Cable Crossover: I could’ve went 20-30lbs heavy on this workout‍️ But I just wanted to demonstrate proper form on this exercise for you guys today. Oh btw!! When it comes to foot-placement it depends on the person there’s really no right way to do that, just whatever makes works for you.
TIP: If you want to target the lower pecs on a High Cable Fly, bring your arms down towards your bellybutton and keep your chest up like your doing a Most Muscular Pose.

    Drop sets. 
A drop set is when you continue an exercise with a lower weight.  Do a heavy set to one or two reps shy of failure, then immediately reduce the load (grab lighter dumbbells, move the pin in the weight stack, or slide a few plates off the bar) by 10% or more and do as many reps as possible. To extend this further, you can build up to multiple sets with drops on each one over time. 
Drop sets are a great way to increase muscle mass because you continue training the target muscles past the point where they’d normally give out, which heightens the stimulus they get. They create muscular and metabolic stress by increasing blood flow into the muscles, getting the heart pumping, and most importantly, fatigue the muscles to ensure muscle growth. 
You can watch both of us perform a drop set for bench dumbbell rows.

As always, what’s your goal? What are you trying to accomplish?

Mobility and stability are basically the opposite of one another.
-
They each serve their purpose in different situations.
-
It is possible for one part of your body to be mobile, while other parts of your body are stable (and rigid).
-
Remember, mobility is being flexible and in control (usually under load) throughout a range of motion.
-
There are certain muscle groups that you typically want to be “mobile” and there are others that you typically want to be stable.
-
The shoulders (rotator cuff) are inherently mobile, but developing stability is crucial.
-
The hips are designed to be stable (so that you can move on your feet without swaying from side to side), but they need to be “unlocked” to achieve full mobility while training.
-
The core and glutes should almost universally be stable.
-
Let’s take the squat for example: an EXTREMELY complex exercise.
-
Your ankles and hips need to be MOBILE, so you can descend fully without rounding the low back, leaning forward (too much), and maintaining an upright torso.
-
Your core, lats, and glutes need to remain STABLE to protect your spine and endure the load on the bar while moving through the range of motion.

Think internally about these applications! You can’t have both mobility and stability, so pick one depending on the exercise and goal!

    Way later than I like but I’m struggling to figure out my new schedule. Leading 3 classes daily has left my overused and under-nourished. And...I’m not exactly sure the solution. .

Day 13 FFF today. But I have to confess-my IF hasn’t been strict, my calories are off and energy is low. I’m pretty sure I’m in a perpetual calorie deficit and I can’t eat enough in 8 hours to help myself. Any ideas? @bodyrocktvseanlight -do you have any pro trainer tips? I’ve also got some shoulder pain-that’s fairly new...and annoying. My best guess-overuse. Again-pro tips would be helpful!

    Way later than I like but I’m struggling to figure out my new schedule. Leading 3 classes daily has left my overused and under-nourished. And...I’m not exactly sure the solution. . . Day 13 FFF today. But I have to confess-my IF hasn’t been strict, my calories are off and energy is low. I’m pretty sure I’m in a perpetual calorie deficit and I can’t eat enough in 8 hours to help myself. Any ideas? @bodyrocktvseanlight-do you have any pro trainer tips? Knowing that the good ol’ bench press work the chest, shoulders, and triceps, why not double the pressure . Hit for the bench press and pushups and see what happens to you on chest day. Knowing it’s a compound set, you will be smashing on the same muscle groups. Therefore, based on your current conditioning, you may need to break for a tad bit longer than you would doing supersets. Also, focus on your back muscles too unless you care to have a body that’s imbalanced. Try not to be that type to think that you know what you’re doing , only to know that you are muscular imbalanced.

About two and a half years ago when I was at the height of my fatigue and weight gain I decided to see a natural medicine doctor. He ordered a bunch of blood work that helped us see what was happening in my body, put me on a supplement protocol and said come back in a few months.
. .
I thought cool, problem solved. I’m going to lose the weight and be fit and healthy... but it didn’t go that way. I spent thousands of dollars on tests and supplements. It provided me with a lot of good information and supplements my body did need, but what about my training and workouts? I was never told I needed to change my workout routine.
. .
So I kept popping pills (supps) and eating healthy, but didn’t get much result. It wasn’t until I educated myself on high cortisol, leaky gut, candida, over training, sleep, etc. that I learned that there were so many other elements and how I trained was a big one. It’s taken me far longer than necessary (and way more money) to recover because what I really needed, along with the functional medicine doctor, was a trainer who understood these problems and could train me or schedule my workouts appropriately.

It wasn’t until I finally took the leap of faith and backed off my training (more specifically cardio) and fed my body, that I was able to heal myself. Every single piece needs to be put in to place.

Don’t be afraid of change. Don’t be afraid of (temporarily) hanging up your running or spin shoes and lifting heavy and walking instead. And don’t be afraid to ask for help!

    What you didn't know about dropsets

Dropsets are one of my favourite ways to train. They involve lifting a given weight for a given amount of reps then immediately dropping the weight 25-50% and then dropping one final time back-to-back with minimal rest in between. For example, if I am doing weighted pullups with 50lbs hanging from my waist, I then drop the weight to 25lbs and max out with reps and then drop to 10lbs and finish off. They are an extremely efficient way to train and can add a ton of volume and intensity to your training in a short period of time which can help and build solid muscle mass as a result. They work well with isolations like biceps curls though I have done them with pullups and dips before with great results. I like to incorporate them on occasion and usually do them on my last set of a selected exercise though I have done workouts where every set is a dropset which really ramps up the intensity of the training. If you're new to dropsets, I would recommend bigger drops in weight. They are absolutely great to incorporate in your workouts and, though not magical, can generate great results when done safely and with proper form.

    What is REVERSE DIETING?

It’s as simple as it sounds - instead of slowly chipping away at your intake and creating a caloric deficit, you’re slowly increasing your calories towards maintenance or building!

Most competitors spend weeks - if not months - slowly reducing their caloric intake and increasing their expenditure - mostly through cardio. The longer you diet, the more metabolic adaptation will take over as your body is natural response to slow and stop fat loss. If you go back to your post competition diet, your body does not know how to handle the influx of food and as you are currently in a fat loss stage, where your body wants to store the food instead of burning and utilizing it for fuel

Reverse dieting is for those who have been in a deficit for an extended amount of time (8-12 weeks.....years +) and is seeing little return on their investment, having a hard time sticking to their low numbers, constantly fatigued, etc or just ready to eat more!

Sounds kind of intimidating. To most people it’s foreign to EVER think about anything but the deficit phase, but it’s REALLY fun to make the mental switch if you see the long term benefits!

You can’t diet forever... remind yourself that you can’t lose weight and be in calorie deficit all the time. In such a diet culture, gaining that weight can seem super scary, and frankly, anxious. But when you’re trying to build muscle, a little weight gain is definitely going to happen
.
Fat loss is meant to be a TEMPORARY phase. And then it has to get back to maintenance and enjoy life & build a better physique.

Everybody wants to be a Bodybuilder but ain't nobody wanna lift no heavy ass weight.
That's what Ronnie said back in the days, pushing the idea of the necessity of lifting heavy in order to grow thick and strong muscles.
Conventional wisdom has convinced us that high reps and light weights builds muscle endurance and makes little contribution to gains in muscle mass, while heavier weights in the low to moderate rep range, on the other hand, has long been accepted as the best way to maximize muscle growth.
But is that the truth?
 In reality, research has shown multiple times that light loads produce the same amount of hypetrophy when compared to heavy loads, when volume is matched. [1], [2], [3], [4]
Does this mean that heavy training is overrated? ..Obviously not, since there're many more things to take into consideration.

    Some hanging ab work & captain’s chair leg raises I’ve been doing. Really focusing on core strength lately & going more slow and controlled with ab stuff. I will say it took me several months of lifting to have enough core strength to do hanging ab stuff (I had no core strength lol). I am working up to hanging leg raises right now with a lot of knee raise work as a progression.

My main tip for both of these is to keep the tension in your abs, raise as high as possible, and make sure you’re bringing your butt up enough. Also, it’s inevitable that your body moves some on hanging ab stuff BUT don’t simply swing with excessive momentum. Keep your core tight and control the exercise. Trust me, you will know if you are engaging the abs enough cause you will feel the burn there!! (and the soreness the next day!) One way to work up to hanging ab raises is to practice doing them on the captain’s chair (knee or leg raise). it’s also good to practice dead hanging from the bar while engaging core. If your hands get super sweaty like mine do, you can use chalk or grips to allow you to grip the bar without slipping.

I am not sure if the guy was talking to me or not, but during my run I passed another runner and he said “Listen to your feet”

Now, I’ve probably heard this 1,000 times during my physical therapy and rehab, but @lyswa can attest (she is very patient!) it takes me a few times to hear something before I hear it 

Anyways, on my run I started listening to my feet and how much noise they were making and big surprise, I was running around making enough noise to wake a neighborhood! So I slowed down, adjusted my form and eventually started running faster!

I kept in tune with the noise I was making to keep my form and pace proper and finished my run with a better feeling afterwards.  Even now, during lunch, when soreness from running hits me, I feel perfect and ready to run more!
